Paul Wheaton shared:
A new video with Helen Atthowe comparing permaculture systems to organic systems and exploring economic issues.
(spoiler: far less cost with the permaculture approach!)

Marjory Wildcraft with Backyard Food Production asks “Can You Afford To Be Healthy?” with this excerpt:
The diet industry is another area where we have we lost touch with simple truths and constructed multi billion dollar ‘solutions’. I confess to having been on one kind of diet or another for most of my life, searching for something, and most of the time I wasn’t sure what. The last century has been an amazing aberration in how disconnected we have become from our food supply. In the book, Animal Vegetable Miracle Barbara Kingsolver wrote of her families experience living for a year eating only locally (with a few exceptions). It is an enjoyable read. While reading her book I had the insight that my exploration of various diets was rooted in a deeper desire to be more connected to the Earth. Eating what you’ve grown, or trading food you’ve produced with neighbors, is unbelievably fulfilling and a natural human pursuit. I have to agree with Kingsolver that the process is miraculous. You will too.
