Lake Bliss Commission

Pyrography Sign - This Was A Commission Piece Done In 2011Lake Bliss Pyrography Sign

Violet wanted a wood burned sign to give as a housewarming gift to her nephew and his wife who had just purchased a piece of land that they planned to develop into a place to be nature friendly to man and wild beast. They named their new place ‘Lake Bliss’ and she told us that they were both fond of butterflies and hummingbirds so at first the plan was to put both onto the sign.

But on further conversations it was learned that the land was home to some wild hogs which  run around in the brush on the property. So it was decided that a butterfly on the snout of a wild hog would be a more appropriate depiction of the ambiance of the property. Troy picked out a piece of reclaimed wood of about the right size, cut it, sanded it and delivered to Em. Soon thereafter Emily went to work sketching the design out with arched lettering and the basic outline of the design. She wanted to capture the image Violet described just right so everyone would be happy with the end result.

Just before the beginning of November, when our dear friend was ready to pick the new sign up to give to her nephew and family Troy called and arranged to meet her for pickup in Grapevine, Texas. When their new gift arrived they were elated and sent us this wonderful picture of them standing beside it mounted on their wall. Thank you Violet for thinking of us .

I would like to express my gratitude to my wonderful Aunt Violet and the fantastic artists that created the sign welcoming our friends to the relaxing lake we find to be "Bliss". This photo has four generations of Neff men and one spoiled yorkie. Left to right, Curtis, Lonnie, Frank, Kevin, (Miss Kitty).
