The other day Em’ received a phone call from a man named Bryan Malatesta who is starting a store in Cleburne, Texas and apparently a 24 hour per day, 7 day a week shopping channel which will be featuring only products made by American citizens and made in the United States. It will be called the Made In America store and will be a 2000 square foot shop in downtown Cleburne. Not only does he want to have Em’ add some of her artwork to the store at a reasonable consignment rate but he is looking for other artists, crafters, musicians and anyone else who makes things to also participate in this new store and shopping channel. I thought this was an interesting concept and one that catches on because as anyone who knows us knows, we’re all about shopping local and supporting local economies here. Here’s a link to the site they have up so far: http://madeinamericatv.com/tv/ and I think the store is scheduled to open around April 20th to 22nd. This might be worth looking into folks!
Each week we feature a DFW area small business, organization, artist or someone else in our community who deserves a little recognition. If you would like to be featured or know someone who deserves to shine a little please get in touch. This week we are featuring Heidi Wunder and her business Wild Sky Studio. Enjoy!

So tell us about Wild Sky Studio.
Wild Sky Studio is my brain child, We have the dance side, where a very unique form of Belly dance is taught, American Tribal Style® Belly Dance. Intro through performance level classes are offered from a ATS® certified teacher. Students can also join the professional troupe, Wild Sky Tribal. I am also an internationally certified Natural Henna artist, creating beautiful temporary designs on bodies. I also make all of my own tribal dance gear, and sell to my students as well!
How did you come up with the name?
Believe it or not, it was a Tribal name generator. I was really stuck
on a name and just started clicking on button, and viola! it made sense!

Here are a few interesting things going on this weekend besides the obvious celebrations of Irish heritage, which I highly recommend partaking in as well by the way. But as an alternative, have a look at these:

We spent the day yesterday at Fair Park in Dallas for the 30th annual North Texas Irish Festival. The weather was gorgeous and the sites and sounds presented by the Southwest Celtic Music Association, the volunteers, entertainers and vendors there made for a time to be remembered.
We also took several pictures of the dancers and other performers we were able to see while we were there but, unfortunately, we forgot to bring our good camera and between the lighting and the limitations of our camera phones most of those pictures just didn’t turn out well enough to share. But we really enjoyed watching the McTeggart Irish Dancers perform on the Emerald Stage at 4:30 in the afternoon. A lot of great talent there! We meant to go by and get another shot of artist, Aaron Rathbun‘s work to see how it progressed during the day but, alas, forgot to do that as well. But maybe he’ll post some up on his Facebook Page?
