The Denton Arts and Jazz Festival is a celebration of the arts in a community known for embracing and nurturing music, dance, choral, drama and the visual arts. The free event is produced by the Denton Festival Foundation, Inc. with the generous support of sponsors such as the Dallas/Fort Worth American Federation of Musicians Local 72-147 and the city of Denton. Held the last full weekend in April at Denton? ??s Quakertown Park, the event features seven stages of continuous music, fine art, crafts, and food, games and information booths in a beautiful, outdoor setting.

The Festival Foundation uses proceeds from booth rentals and concession sales to support the arts throughout the city of Denton. Arts facilities, service organizations, and preservation projects have all been the recipients of the proceeds from past events, in addition to public art for the enjoyment of all.

HEADLINERS:
Lee Ritenour – (Friday, 9:00 pm Jazz Stage) Lee Ritenour was raised in a musical environment immersed in jazz, rock and Brazilian music. Child of the 60s and native of Los Angeles, this Grammy award winning guitarist has led a long and eclectic career. His early experiences working with the Mamas and Papas, Lena Horne and Tony Bennett developed into a historic career as a professional musician. Lee Ritenour has earned 17 Grammy nominations, had recorded 40 albums with 35 chart hits and has become a tradition on jazz radio.
Los Lonely Boys – (Saturday, 9:00 pm Jazz Stage) The legendary story of Los Lonely Boys began with these brothers playing behind their father as kids in cantinas and honky-tonks. Then, moving to Nashville in their teens and returning to their native Texas, they became well known on the club scene as a live act. Their self-titled debut album went double platinum, with their #1 hit in “Heaven.” This was followed by years of recording success leading to their current release, “Rockpango”. Los Lonely Boys are truly legendary musical artists who remain true to themselves. We’re still Lonely Boys.
Brave Combo – (Sunday, 7:00 pm Jazz Stage) – For three decades this Denton based act has perfected a mixture of world music ranging from salsa to merengue to rock to polka and all points in between. This Denton hallmark has become “America’s Premier Dance band” offering a hard-hitting global journey described as, arriving for the party, leaving with a musical education? ??. Everbody leaves the show embracing the world with a smile. With two Grammy Awards and 7 nominations, Brave Combo performs at festivals and fairs across the globe, rock clubs big and small, colleges, roadhouses, dances, cultural centers and still call Denton their home.
4th Friday Hippie Gypsy Drum Jam
When? Tonight starting at 7PM and running til 10PM
Where? Feed Your Head, 3415 S. Cooper St. Arlington, TX
What? The Hippie Gypsy Caravan will leave Feed Your Head’s parking lot a 7pm. Destination TBA. There is room for 14. Reservations must be made to ensure a seat. All others can follow or meet at the destination. There could be several.
For those of you who can’t make our 2nd Saturday Drum Circle, or for those of you who just want to double your fun, we’re adding a new night! Everyone is welcome – drummers, fire spinners, belly dancers and spectators.
El Lobo has graciously volunteered to be Drum Master – THANK YOU SO MUCH, El Lobo! So, there will be plenty of drums to go around even if you don’t have your own.
Weather permitting, we’ll be outside with the hookah going. It’s the same FREE family-friendly fun as the original, so plan on joining us!

What? Fort Worth Prairie Fest is the annual fundraiser for Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area. Learn more about how funds are plowed back into Tandy Hills HERE.
Prairie Fest grew from a small neighborhood event in 2006 to become the “Best Outdoor Cultural Event in 2010”, according to the Fort Worth Weekly. By 2011, Prairie Fest had attracted hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors to Tandy Hills.
